AOL recently started to work together with Harrah's Entertainment to create an AOL.com World Series of Poker website that features several types of free poker games. The World Series of Poker is the most famous poker tournament in the world. AOL also recently launched AOL Vegas, a website that is dedicated to all types of casino games, travel planning and original programming related to Las Vegas itself.

For this project, AOL started cooperation with the Game Show Network LLC. The Game Show Network (now known as GSN - The Network for Games) is an American cable television and direct broadcast satellite channel, which is dedicated to game shows and interactive television games. The channel was launched on December 1, 1994. At this moment, GSN is received by 58 million homes, and is jointly owned by Liberty Media and Sony Pictures Entertainment. GSN is also the producer of the World Series of Blackjack TV show and produces online and interactive TV games like Lingo and Ballbreakers. These last two games will also be made available on AOL games.

The new blackjack online hub will be available in April 2006 and it will be possible to play free blackjack online games, read tips from the blackjack pros. Another extra feature will be exclusive behind-the-scenes videos from the GSN's World Series of Blackjack TV show in June.

According to Ralph Rivera, Vice President and General Manager of AOL games stated that playing poker and blackjack online will become more popular in the coming years among mainstream audiences, and AOL picked the right moment to join in.
